Root canal treatment

Root canal treatment

Each tooth in the dental arch has a system of blood vessels and nerves that nourishes it, known as the dental pulp. When the dental pulp is damaged (due to significant cavities, tooth trauma, or bacteria infiltrating from the gum system), it can lead to pain, swelling, or infection. At that point, we need to treat the dental pulp.

Cases for root canal extraction:

  • Non-reversible pulpitis.
  • The tooth has died.
  • The tooth has undergone endodontic treatment but is still problematic, with periapical disease.

In the past, the obsession with root canal treatment always made patients anxious, even fearful. However, with the advancement of technology, modern methods for performing root canals have emerged, reducing treatment time, minimizing the number of visits, and eliminating the painful sensations associated with root canal procedures. Therefore, choosing a reputable dental clinic and a skilled dentist is essential for effective, safe, and quality treatment.

Currently, at the SaintPaul Dental Center, we use the VDW Reciproc Gold endodontic system—one of the world’s leading endodontic systems. This facilitates easy and optimal cleaning of the root canal, along with a compatible sealing cone system that ensures a perfect seal, minimizes complications after the procedure, shortens treatment time, and reduces pain during and after treatment compared to traditional root canal techniques.

Recommendation: For teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, patients should cover them with porcelain crowns to protect the teeth. This is because teeth that have had their pulp removed often lose a significant amount of structure; the remaining tooth tissue after a root canal becomes brittle and susceptible to fracture. Therefore, capping the tooth with porcelain after treatment is essential for long-term protection and to ensure proper chewing function.
